Letter of Introduction

Dear Singapore Catholic High School teachers,

First of all, thank you for reading my letter of introduction.

I amXXX, male, born in March 1995. I am applying to your school to continue my studies. The first time I heard about Singapore was in my geography class. I learnt that Singapore is a beautiful and flourishing country, and I was interested in visiting Singapore. When I was in Grade 7, I learnt that I might have a chance to study in Singapore after graduating from middle school. As I liked the education system in Singapore, I wanted to try hard for it. Since then, I have set myself a goal of studying in Singapore, and my family has also supported me a lot. I respectfully present this application to you in hope that I may continue my studies at your school.

As for studying, I regard learning new things as a delight in my life. Since I was young, I have had a great interest in knowledge, and have tried my best to learn more and more. I have always been at the top of the list in the exams in our school, and because of that, I have received many honors. This gives me a lot confidence, but I know that I must continue to work hard. The knowledge I have received is just a little of all the human wisdom and is also the easiest and the most basic, I still have much to learn (I realized this deeply several times while being trained for tests after school). So I decided to face the challenges of the future with a much more active attitude.

Among all the subjects, I like math the best. In my opinion, the logical thoughts in math are very mysterious and interesting. So I always get the best grade in math. I will not give up other subjects, of course, because I want to become a student who can do well in every subject.

My parents both graduated from Kunming University of Science and Technology, and my father has become a Master of Engineering. My parents know the importance of studying and have supported my interest in reading books since I was young. There are different kinds of books everywhere in my house. My parents read the books for me at first, and then I was able to read by myself. From easy fairy tales to difficult masterpieces, from thin books which are full of pictures to thick encyclopedias…I grew up with books. Afterwards, even though I had to spend a lot time on my schoolwork, I still kept the habit of reading books. Books are the sum of human wisdom. While I am reading, not only do I get knowledge, but also I learn many things about how to be a good person which are useful all my life. I believe strongly that books will go with me in my future life and they will continue to be my best friends.

Life is colorful. I have always taken part in many after-school activities from primary school to middle school. I could often be seen at sports meetings, and I love many kinds of sports such as basketball, table tennis and badminton. In organized competition, I not only get a lot of exercise, but I also improved my skills in cooperating with others. I love music very much and I have obtained a level 9 certificate for an amateur musical instrument on the electronic organ and a level 10 certificate on zhudi. I like singing and I was one of the students who recorded our school song. When I am free, playing a beautiful piece of music is my favorite way to relax. In my school’s Art Festival, the piece of music I played was liked a lot. I also took part in some zhudi competitions and felt good about my performance. Otherwise, I am interested in speech. I still remembered the day when the School Speech Contest was held. I finished in the top three. So I can say that my life is not boring at all, but is filled with happiness.

Because of the influence of people around me, I have become very confident, optimistic and active. Everybody will fall and so do I. I have experiences in failing such as not getting good grades, failing in the competition, and so on, but I believe that failing always comes before success. And with an active attitude, I passed many challenges and looks forwards to the next challenge.

I hope the teachers will give me the opportunity to study in the Catholic School. I believe I can grab onto this opportunity and improve myself!
